Easter Holidays in Swansea Bay

C 27th March 2014

Hop on down and spend your  Easter Holidays in Swansea Bay. We’re all geared up for it! And with this handy round-up, hopefully you can plan a great getaway with the family. Here’s a list of events, offers and activities to keep you (and the kids!) busy this Easter. Get ready, get steady and get yourself to Swansea Bay!

Easter Holidays round-up

If you’re an animal lover, head to Plantasia between 15th and 17th April for a close encounter with owls and peregrine falcons (you can even hold them!) Ride a donkey (small charge applies) on 20th April or find out more about fascinating animals such as tarantulas and stick insects with ‘Beastly Bugs and Blowpipes’ on 22nd and 23rd April.

Swansea’s home to Wales’ oldest and newest museums – and they’re next door to each other! The National Waterfront Museum is hosting a Golden Egg Trail between 14th and 27th April and a Swansea Jack and the Beanstalk themed Easter Eggstravaganza on the 18th. Bring some popcorn and settle down for one of their Easter films – ‘Bambi’ is showing on Easter Sunday (don’t forget your tissues!) and you can catch ‘Hop’ on Easter Monday. Or pop next door to Swansea Museum on 17th April and get crafty! Create your own bejewelled egg ready for Easter with artist Ruth McLeese.

There’ll be lots of free family fun and entertainment in Swansea Market on 16th April. Join in the fun from 10.30am to 3.30pm with arts and craft activities, stilt walkers, face painting and cookery workshops. Stock up on the finest ingredients for your Easter feasts. Enjoy the very best of Welsh cheeses, cockles and laverbread (it’s seaweed!) and warm welshcakes straight from the bakestone!

We’re well aware that the Easter holidays fall between different dates in England and Wales, but fear not! The LC, Swansea have made special amendments to their opening hours to ensure that families visiting from England have plenty to do too.

The LC’s Easter holiday waterpark, play and climb opening times are as follows:

  • 7th – 10th April: 10am – 6pm
  • 11th April: 10am – 8pm
  • 12th – 27th April: 9am – 8pm

Be sure to check out the great Easter events that are in store for families visiting the LC too.
These include Easter Fun and Easter Bunnies Party.

If you fancy stopping off somewhere for lunch, try the Dragon Hotel’s Easter Sunday Carvery, with live entertainment and a small gift for the kids!

Time for Tee? Head to Gower Golf Club on Friday 18th April from 2pm for their Easter Egg Golf Club Challenge! There’s lots of Easter eggs to win, a prize for best Easter outfit and coaching sessions too!

Gower Heritage Centre is bursting with Easter Fun! From 12th – 27th April, with egg and spoon races, Easter egg hunts, pottery workshops and Puppet shows. Or head to Margam Park on Easter Monday for Circus workshops, Wizard and Ringmaster stilt walkers and lots more fun!

Showtime? Head to Swansea’s Grand Theatre. Little ones can choose from the Chris and Pui RoadshowBananas in Pyjamas or the Gruffalo. Older kids can catch the Tap Factory on 24th April and Disney’s High School Musical Jr on 26th too.

Don’t want to go home? Stay over! Village Urban Resort is offering an Easter Early Bird Break, Bayholme are offering an Easter Holiday discount (for a week from Saturday 12th April) and Driftwood Chalet in Mumbles are offering free towels and bed linen, so you don’t have to leave just yet…
