An Acting Masterclass – The Broadway Experience

Friday 24th October 2014, 7 – 9pm

Free event (Donations to Maggie’s Cancer Caring Centres)

Megan and Robert are both excited to be a part of the centenary celebration at the Dylan Thomas Birthplace, representing the St. David’s Society of New York. They hope you will come to meet them and get to know more about the St. David’s Society of NY and about theatre in NYC. If you happen to be aspiring performers, both Megan and her husband, Robert welcome your questions. Their masterclass will draw on their experiences on Broadway and in touring all over the United States. This is a fascinating journey essential for all with an interest in theatre.

Megan Thomas, a working New York actor, is proud of her Welsh heritage and of her many relatives still in Swansea. Her career has brought her all over the world as “Gumby/Griddlebone” in the Vienna company of CATS, to performing on World Cruises, the National Tours; BEAUTY & THE BEAST as “Mrs. Potts” and HELLO, DOLLY! starring Carol Channing, the Off-Broadway Show MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL in NYC, and The Metropolitan Opera. She recently performed her cabaret, BETTER LATE THAN NEVER at the Beechman Theatre and for the Welsh Women’s Club of NY.

Some find it hard to believe that Robert Lydiard is in his 50th year as a professional actor. Mr. Lydiard has touched virtually every area of the entertainment business. Directly following graduate school, he opened as the title character in the popular hit: YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN. On to Broadway opposite Carol Channing in HELLO, DOLLY! Three Academy Award winning films: THE PAPER CHASE; THE DAY OF THE DOLPHIN; (as the voice of the Dolphins in 4 languages); and Federico Fellini’s AMARCORD as the English voice of the lead. Twenty years of television & radio commercials and even on-board Producer for Holland America Cruise Lines on their World Cruises.

Known as Broadway “Babies” they offer Masterclasses on Musical Theatre Audition techniques, CV presentation, and vocal style. What they don’t know about the business could be written on the frayed tip of a tap shoe. Their masterclass will draw on their experiences on Broadway and in touring all over the United States.
