Take a walk on the cultural side!

Maggie’s Culture Crawl will be returning on Friday 4 September 2015.

Come with us as we head out into the night, discovering cultural, architectural and artistic delights in Swansea, whilst raising as much as we can to support people with cancer and their family and friends.

The Route

Start: Knab Rock – we kick-off our cultural adventure at the Knab Rock in Mumbles which is South of Swansea. This is an open space near the Mumbles Pier and a picturesque part of Swansea.

Oystermouth Castle – our second stop will be the Norman Oystermouth Castle which reopened in mid July 2011 with a 30-foot high glass viewing platform and bridge that leads to Alina’s Chapel. The chapel marks the attraction’s highest architectural point and features a tracery window with spectacular views over Swansea Bay.

Maggie’s Swansea – peace and serenity combine in the wonderful, swirling structure of Maggie’s Swansea. Built in 2011 and designed and conceived by the world renowned Japanese architect Kisho Kurokowa, the building joins the East with the West, and brings a sense of calm and tranquillity to all who visit it.

The National Waterfront Museum – our third stop is The National Waterfront Museum or Amgueddfa Genedlaethol y Glannau in Welsh. A major new slate and glass museum integrated with an existing Grade II listed warehouse which deals with Wales’ history of industrial revolution and innovation by combining significant historical artefacts with modern technologies.

Finish: The Dylan Thomas Centre – celebrate the end of your 9 mile cultural adventure at The Dylan Thomas Centre, the home of the permanent Dylan Thomas exhibition ‘Love the Words’. This retrospective explores the poet Dylan Thomas’ life and work through a variety of media and includes letters, books, worksheets and photographs.
