Walking

Walking Swansea Bay and the Gower Peninsula: information on public transport, walking routes, and more.

With nearly 400 miles' worth of rights of way, the Gower Peninsula offers many memorable walking routes, from short family trips, taking in many of the small churches and landmarks in the area, to routes for the more experienced, with breathtaking views of the Peninsula. In fact, "glorious" Rhossili is one of The Times '20 Greatest Rural British Walks' (2007).

And of course it's not just about the coast. Inland, Gower is teeming with flora and fauna you won't want to miss. Try the Gower Way for a challenging trek across the Peninsula. Or head to the green 'Waterfall Country' of the Vale of Neath, just east of Swansea, to find completely different scenery.

Gower Walking Festival - this annual festival includes over forty graded walks, each led by an experienced walker and linked to a particular theme or activity, including history, bushcraft, literature, and even coasteering!  For the 2009 Gower Walking Festival brochure and further details, click here.
