'The tiny, beach-rich Gower Peninsula is one of Wales' loveliest corners...

...Gorgeous sandy beaches, flower-fringed limestone cliffs and easy-going coastal walks, near Swansea and its superb National Waterfront Museum' ... Lonely Planet

The 19 mile-long Gower Peninsula starts at Mumbles and extends westwards.  It's famous for its beautiful coastline and beaches (from vast Rhossili Bay to tiny, secluded Pwll Du), and is a favourite destination for walkers and surfers.  Inland you'll find sheltered woodland and rolling grasslands; country pubs and fine food

The Gower Peninsula's beaches are some of Wales' cleanest and most beautiful. Rhossili Bay scooped the TripAdvisor Travellers Choice Award for Britain's Best Beach (as well as placing 3rd in Europe and 10th in the World) in 2013 and was coined "the supermodel of British beaches" by The Independent. Llangennith is one of The Guardian's 'Top 10 UK Surf Spots' too.

'Swansea is the gateway to the Gower Peninsula, a compact compendium of coastal delights - from the golden-sand expanses of scenic Three Cliffs Bay, to the pounding surf and wind-blown ridge-walking at Rhossili' ... Lonely Planet

Gower history

For history lovers, the area boasts many ancient sites, monuments, caves, castles, shipwrecks and landmarks including Arthur's Stone, Giants Grave burial chamber and Pennard Castle. Stone Age artefacts have been discovered in Gower caves, including the oldest dated modern human remains ever discovered in Britain.
