Travel by air

Advice for travellers arriving by air from abroad

There are good rail and bus links to Swansea from London Gatwick and Heathrow Airports, Bristol Airport and Cardiff International Airport. 

The nearest international airport to Swansea - Cardiff - is only 50 minutes away from Swansea Bay by road or rail, and offers scheduled flights from major European cities. Airlines operating from CIA include KLM, Ryanair, bmibaby and other low-cost airlines (contact details below). 

Internal flights to Cardiff are also available from certain UK airports, including Aberdeen, Anglesey, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle (at the time of writing).  Transport Direct will help you find domestic flights within Great Britain.

Alternatively, Swansea has its own airport, which is suitable for small aircraft. The airport is located in Fairwood on the Gower Peninsula.

Connecting to Swansea Bay

It's easy to get from Bristol and Cardiff Airports to Swansea Bay by train. Both have efficient air/rail links and trains every hour, every weekday.

Visitors can purchase through tickets either at the Airports or 'on line' before they travel.
