Pontardawe, Swansea SA8 4PN
Winner of the Tourism Swansea Bay Awards, "Best Self Catering Accommodation", Cwmshon Cottages are a luxurious 5 Star escape for couples or families. Fully renovated and extended Victorian miners cottages, they are set in a peaceful village location beside a sparkling stream, ideally located for the beaches of the Gower coast, Brecon Beacons National Park, Waterfall Country and the show caves of Dan-yr-Ogof.
The pretty gardens have won the Borough in Bloom Competition 2 years in succession and welcoming owners Fiona and Andrew, who live 2 minutes away, provide fresh herbs for cooking in the extensively and thoughtfully equipped kitchen. Store cupboard essentials (olive oil, wine vinegar, herbs, salt, fresh pepper, tea, coffee, sugar etc) are provided and Fiona welcomes guests with fresh flowers and her homemade Bara Brith usually served with local honey.
Each cottage sleeps 6 in three bedrooms and has both a family bathroom and a ground floor shower/wet room. They are bookable separately or together to sleep up to 12 people plus 2 infants. Cots, highchairs and stair gates are provided. Enjoy curling up in front of the fire – yes, even in summer it's a treat – or dining outside in the lovely, private patio listening to the stream – home to yellow wagtails and the occasional heron - as it tumbles down the hillside from the Gwrhyd mountain.
An outdoor gear drying room and secure bike store make this a great base for walkers and cyclists as well as surfers keen to ride the waves on Gower's best surfing beaches. Free Wi-Fi/internet access as well as comprehensive tourist information are provided – the cottages are one of the top rated holiday cottages in Wales on Tripadvisor. We look forward to making your stay special!
