Be Part of It
Frances Jenkins, Swansea Council's Strategic Manager for Tourism, Marketing and Events, said: "It's hard to believe there's only 100 days left until the start of the Olympics and that seven years have now passed since London won the battle to stage the iconic event.
"Excitement is really starting to build across the UK and a series of local events are being arranged as part of our Be Part of It campaign that will help bring the spirit and enjoyment of the Olympics and Paralympics to people's doorsteps in Swansea."
Swansea Council is organising an event at Singleton Park to coincide with its arrival on Saturday May 26. It will be split into two parts: a Sports Village and an Olympic Torch Evening Celebration.
The Sports Village will be open from 1pm and will offer people the chance to take part in and find out more about a range of different sports. Football, sailing, climbing, rowing, judo, athletics, fencing and rugby will be among the sports represented. Fun inflatables will also be on hand as well as demonstration areas.
Gates for the Evening Celebration open at 4pm. The event will feature a two and a half hour stage show that will culminate with the arrival of the Olympic Torch
The show will include 20 minutes of performances to highlight the best local talent. It will finish at approximately 7.30pm.
The Flame will then restart its journey in Swansea early on morning of Sunday May 27 before making its way onto Carmarthenshire.
