And now Swansea Marina has been given glowing recognition from a world-famous company based in the coastal American state thanks to excellent customer service feedback.
Swansea Council's marina staff have been sent a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor for earning exceptional traveller ratings over the last year.
TripAdvisor has become the world's largest travel website by recognising the power of traveller feedback.
Swansea Marina scored a rating of 4 out of 5.
The Certificate of Excellence award is only given to the most exceptional performers in TripAdvisor's global business community.
The news follows on from Swansea Marina winning prestigious Blue Flag status once again earlier this year. This means Swansea Marina has met 16 land-based criteria including adequate waste reception facilities, provision of lifesaving equipment and a written commitment to safeguard local environments.
Cllr Nick Bradley, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: "Swansea Marina has been a tremendous success story since its inception in the city. It helps make the most of Swansea's stunning natural location and is an enormously popular location for both residents and visitors.
"TripAdvisor hasn't become one of the world's most popular websites by accident. Its popularity is testament to how highly it's rated by people across the planet and this is why Swansea Marina's Certificate of Excellence is so pleasing.
"But the marina reviews on the website aren't just a reflection on the boating facilities there. They also include glowing references for local shops and restaurants and this is a great endorsement for local traders and the wider destination."
Swansea Marina was the first of its kind to open in the Bristol Channel in the early 1980s. TripAdvisor was founded in 2000 and says over 100 million people have used the website since.
