Enjoy a peaceful walk around one of the many rural areas in Mawr: try the Lliw reservoirs, which offer a range of walks from shorter, more accessible routes, to longer routes around the reservoir and through open countryside.

Why not leave the car behind and follow our walking by bus route around the reservoir?

For a little more of a challenge, head up to Penlle'r Castell, the highest point in Swansea and the start of the Gower Way.

Or if you prefer, swap two feet for two wheels and follow National Cycle Route 43 through the east of the area.

While you're here, do something different: try a round of golf at the Morriston or INCO golf clubs; have a go at rock-climbing with Dynamic Rock, Swansea's indoor climbing centre. Or visit Teamforce at Llnagyfelach and enjoy paintballing in an idyllic woodland setting.

Want to get back to nature? Head to Cwm Clydach, an RSPB-run nature reserve on the outskirts of Clydach, for a spot of birdwatching. The peaceful woodland is a perfect place to stroll and try to catch a glimpse of a wide variety of birds. (download leaflet on the right hand side)

For history-lovers, we recommend a visit to Penllergaer Woods, which contain the remains of photography pioneer Sir John Llewellyn's estate. Take a walk round to discover his observatory and the remains of his elaborate, manicured gardens.
