Skyfall, the latest James Bond film, is one of the outdoor movies being shown in the Oystermouth Castle grounds on Friday evening (May 10) before Les Miserables, starring Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway, takes centre stage on Saturday evening (May 11).

The movies, which both start at 7.30pm, are being shown on a giant screen.

Swansea Council has organised the special screenings as part of the Swansea Bay Festival.

Cllr Nick Bradley, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “Outdoor cinema in Swansea this summer is a terrific idea. These events replicate the feel of drive-in movies in the USA and park-based films in London that have both been hugely successful for many years.

“Skyfall and Les Miserables are massively successful, epic movies that will look and sound fantastic on a giant screen with the ancient ruins of historic Oystermouth Castle acting as a spectacular backdrop.

“Weather-permitting, these will be two great events. They’ll also offer a taster of what’s to come for people of all ages and interests later in the summer as part of the Swansea Bay Festival.”

Skyfall, the 23rd film in the James Bond franchise, stars Daniel Craig. Directed by Sam Mendes, the critically-acclaimed movie also stars Judy Dench and Javier Bardem.

Les Miserables is a screen version of the famous 19th Century Victor Hugo novel that’s now been a massively successful play for many years. It also stars Hugh Jackman, Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne.

Popcorn will be available to help further generate a cinematic experience and visitors will have the chance to hire deck chairs.
