The Lord Mayor, Cllr June Stanton, will be joining in the celebratory event on June 9 at 2.30pm at St Mary’s Church in Swansea which is being organised by The Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan, Mr. D. Byron Lewis.

Cllr Stanton said: “Queen Elizabeth is our country’s greatest and best-known ambassador, instantly recognised and admired around the world.

“It is a privilege to have the opportunity to participate in this event to recognise the Coronation which took place 60 years ago. It’s a public event and everyone is welcome to come along on the day.”

The Lord Lieutenant said: “Last year’s Diamond Jubilee celebrated 60 years since Her Majesty The Queen’s accession to the Throne. This year we mark 60 years since Her Majesty was crowned Queen.

“There will be a National Service in Westminster Abbey on June 4th. There will also be Services in counties throughout Britain, including the Service at St. Mary’s, Swansea for West Glamorgan.

“This is a public Service and everyone is most welcome. It is hoped that representatives, members and friends of all organisations in the County will also attend as the Service is intended to represent a broad cross section of life in the area.”
