We may be nearing the end of August – but we’ve got a big Bank Holiday weekend coming up ...

We’ve said farewell to Storm Francis and it’s fingers crossed for a sunny Saturday, Sunday AND Monday!  Not sure what to do with that extra time? Get ready for a bundle of bank holiday ideas.

Take it Outside?

Whether the weather be fine or just a bit damp there’s a lot to choose from.  Even if it’s hot and sunny you can still get wet – how about a spot of surfing or SUP (stand up paddle-boarding) or kayaking in our clear, blue waters.

For teeny tots there’s Blackpill Lido’s splashpool and everyone loves a round of Crazy Golf (at Singleton Park and Southend Gardens in Mumbles).

Outdoor adventurers – see here!

or Inside?

Want to take it indoors? No problem.  Plantasia brings the tropics to Swansea with exotic plants, animals and (gulp) creepy crawlies – just the thing for your budding Chris Packham or Michaela Strachan! The National Waterfront Museum has interactive exhibits for busy hands and minds or grab a racquet at the LC and have a game of badminton or table-tennis.

The inside story …

It’s Great Outdoors!

If you just want to head off to the hills or are craving the coast, then that’s just fine.  We’ve got lots of countryside and coastline to walk in, take photos of or to just sit down in and relax!

Gower’s beauty is legend, and so are the many heritage sites that stud the landscape. Explore ancient burial sites, castle ruins and standing stones and take a step back from the hustle and bustle of the day to day.

Penllergare Valley Woods is another gem to explore with woodland and waterfall walks and Lliw Valley Reservoir in Rural Swansea is another picturesque water world off the beaten track.

Live the Legend!  Try some Gower Power  or find your Rural (Swansea) idyll!

Eat to Treat

It’s the Bank Holiday weekend and time to treat yourself to something delicious. There are cafés and restaurants ready to book your table and take your order – but don’t delay. Make sure you book in advance as places are more limited these days.

From incredible ice-cream and freshly baked goodies to locally caught seafood and tasty fresh veg – many use local produce and flavours and can’t wait to welcome you for lunch, dinner or just a cuppa and a nice crumbly piece of cake!

Can I have some more!

Plan → Book → Travel

It’s the three steps to Bank Holiday heaven – make sure that before you open the front door – you make a plan, book your accommodation, your meals and your activities – and THEN you can get in the car! Next stop Swansea Bay!
