After an absence of two years due to the pandemic, this year the annual Gower Agricultural Show, will be held on Sunday, 31st July 2022 in the stunning parkland of Penrice Castle Park near Oxwich Bay.
The show is a traditional, one-day event set in one of the finest locations for an agricultural event in the country. If you enjoy the countryside, or are looking for a different, fun-filled family day out, you and your family will really enjoy the Gower Agricultural Show – it’s an event not to be missed!
A full programme of displays and competitions will take place throughout the day. If you’re visiting the Gower Agricultural Show for the first time, you will be amazed at the variety of activities which can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
An event that increases in popularity every year is the Novelty Dog Show and we are expecting a record number of entries. So bring along your four legged friends and enter them. There are fourteen classes so there is bound to be one to suit your best friend.
Once again, we have been very lucky to have a display of one of the show’s favourite attractions – the classic and elegant Shire horses – and visitors have the amazing opportunity of looking at these gentle giants close-up.
Step back into farming days gone by and admire the vintage cars and tractors when they parade in the main ring.
These are just some of the events planned; and there’s a lot more happening at the showground throughout the day.
The Gower Agricultural Show is very much a traditional agricultural event; it is a chance to see that farming is still so very important to our area. There is a fantastic livestock section with many different breeds of farm animals, all competing in their different classes, and it is a chance to get a really close look at some of the finest examples of livestock.
And let’s not forget, horses of all breeds, large and small, will be showing in the main horse ring too. The competition rings will be full all day, with competitors hoping that this year, they will win the ultimate title in their section of “Gower Show Supreme Champion 2022.”
Other displays and exhibits will be housed in marquees all around the parkland. There will be the dramatic, artistic flower arranging in the Horticulture marquee, and a chance to compare cooking skills in the Cookery tent. In the Honey tent, you can even get dressed up and have a look at a working bee hive.
If a little retail therapy takes your fancy, there are plenty of local arts and crafts available to purchase from with a carefully selected range of trade stands with unique products, not seen on the High Street. Growing in popularity is the fine selection of local food that is available to taste and buy.
Then when your feet are feeling tired, why not join our local WI ladies in their refreshment tent for a welcome cuppa and a slice of home baked cake!
