StoryTrails

Come down to Swansea Central Library on August 10th and 11th between 11am- 7pm to discover a range of exciting augmented and virtual reality experiences for all the family to enjoy. Explore Swansea’s untold stories through a virtual map and take part in an immersive StoryTrails walking tour.

StoryTrails is part of ‘UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK’, a ground-breaking UK-wide celebration of creativity in 2022. Brought to you with Swansea Council.

Outdoor Theatre

Shakespeare’s classic comedy of love and intrigue, magic and mayhem, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, is brought to life by family favourites Quantum Theatre in their wonderfully funny and lively production of the Shakespeare classic. Grab a blanket, a picnic and friends to experience an evening of entertainment in the grounds of Oystermouth Castle on Thursday August 25th, 7.30pm.

Admiral Swansea Bay 10k

If you’ve been thinking about signing up for the Swansea Bay 10k on Sunday 18th September, there’s still time to get your entry in. It’s a flat, fast route with plenty to look at and lots of supporters to cheer you along.

Sport and Health

The Sport and Health team have a timetable fit to burst this summer. You can find the usual weekly timetable topped with watersports, multi sports, street games, camps and mountain boarding.

There are also inclusive sport camps, boccia, wheelchair basketball and companion cycling. They have bikes aplenty with BMX, balance and mountain biking sessions, along with watersports and UsGirl camps. Check out the full timetable here.

Late nights at the National Waterfront Museum

Enjoy and explore the National Waterfront Museum during their extended opening hours every Thursday from 21st July – 1st September.

With the museum open until 9pm every Thursday you’ll have extra time to meet for coffee, explore the exhibitions, learn about Wales’ industrial past at the museum and also have a go at rope making and letterpress printing on the oldest working iron printing press in Wales.

Free Bus Travel

Great news, the free bus service is back for the summer! Every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday until 29th August you can travel anywhere within Swansea county for free! You could head into town, to the beach, to visit friends, get a ride home after a long walk or just go for a spin to a different area. Hop on board.

Oystermouth Castle

Dig out your prettiest frock and your wooden swords for Prince and Princesses day at Oystermouth Castle on Monday 29th August. Enjoy walkabout meet and greets with your favourite fairytale characters, with music and storytelling throughout the day. There are also weekly tours of the castle, covering hundreds of years of history!

Dylan Thomas Centre

This summer, why not get creative at the Dylan Thomas Centre? You can create your own comic book characters, make postcards and keepsake notebooks, invent a travel board game, or write and illustrate your own summer story in a series of workshops inspired by Dylan’s radio broadcast, ‘Holiday Memory’, which tells the story of a memorable August bank holiday in Swansea.

Also yours to enjoy at the Dylan Thomas Centre are the ‘Holiday Memory’ self-led activities, ‘Dylan’s Animals’ children’s trail through the exhibition that explores the writer’s life and work, and performance-based guided tours of Dylan’s Swansea with Fluellen Theatre. What’s more, the team are taking the Young Writers’ Squad on tour throughout the city with Swansea Libraries!
