Swansea’s International Dance Festival returns!

Swansea celebrates Dance Days 2017 with a mix of free dance performance for everyone.

Enjoy a marathon of dance performances, in and around Swansea city centre and around Swansea Marina on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th July in a free weekend, packed with dance entertainment. Hosted by Taliesin Arts Centre, international dance stars from Swansea and beyond perform a mix of modern, street, circus and traditional dance in Swansea’s FREE International Dance Festival – DANCE DAYS.

Company Chameleon returns this year with a gritty, yet sensitive performance by a cast of five men in; Of Man and Beast.

Circus and theatre combine in Shipwrecks; a brand new performance from Citrus Arts. Kapow Dance are also lost at sea in Adrift. Thrown to and fro, the two castaways teeter precariously in the unpredictable landscape.

This year’s festival features the hilarious Mr & Mrs Clark who will take you through A Dummy’s Guide to Becoming a Successful Politician, in Electioneering and watch out for plenty of slapstick humour, antics and wedding bells, in Gary & Pel’s Car Crash Wedding!

More acrobatics are combined with fast-paced breakdance in BOUNCE from Harnisch-Lacey Dance Theatre. Three eccentric scientists embark on a journey to avert the impending disaster of rising sea levels and global warming, to bring new life to a groaning world. They join festival regulars County Youth Dance Company and many more.

Swansea and Taliesin Arts Centre were one of the first UK cities to join the worldwide network, Ciudades Que Danzan (Cities That Dance). Each year, cities across the world, from Rio de Janeiro to Barcelona, celebrate dance in unexpected places.
