London-based Kamao Quartet is a chamber jazz group with a contemporary approach to American jazz, from the swing/bebop era to Django Reinhardt legacy. KAMAO means “I like/I love/I want” in Romani.
Characterised by the electric guitar of band leader Jean de Talhouët, with the rhythm guitar of Dave Kelbie, the clarinet/tenor saxophone of Dave Shulman, and backed up by double bassist Ruth Goller, this is a fresh take on Gypsy jazz.
