Spooks in the City returns to Castle Square, Saturday 30 October 2021

From 11am, Castle Square will be transformed into a spooky spectacular filled with family entertainment, games and dance performances.

This FREE event has fang-tastic offers of  music, glitter tattoos, theatrical make-up, craft stalls, pumpkins, gory props for the best photo opportunities and workshops.

Look out for our Halloween characters roaming around, have a go at the pumpkin hunt (we have some amazing prizes to be won!) and finish off with the pumpkin parade!

Why not take part in one of our workshops? You could make a bat hat, trick or treat bag, pumpkin or ghost lantern or even a witch’s wreath.

There will also be plenty of competitions for best costume, best scream (aaagggghhhhhhh!!!!) and scariest face.

And not forgetting all the fun with our Halloween games, including the pumpkin stomp, witches hat ring toss, tin can alley, toilet paper mummy, pumpkin relay and pin the spider on the web.

Our pumpkin parade will take place at 2:00pm. Join our witches, ghouls and other characters being led by our samba drummers to parade around the city centre, (we assemble at 1:55 in Castle Square) Remember to wear your spookiest costume and all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Mingle with the mystic Red Witch, who is no ordinary Witch. Watch her spellbinding act as she casts a spell and brings her magical crystal ball to life, like a floating bubble around her hands and body, you won’t believe your own eyes.

Watch she doesn’t hypnotise you with her magic and leaves you in an enchanted haze.

Halloween doesn’t have to be scary, our giant pink witches will be walking around on the day, and they’ll need your help as remembering magic spells is not their strongest point. These learner witches will sure to have you in giggles!
