Merry Christmas from the West Glamorgan Archive Service!

Why not make a special Christmas Family Tree to celebrate this time of year?

You can put the names of all your family members on the baubles on the tree, then decorate it with glitter and use it at a Christmas decoration too!

To make your tree you will need:

You can draw your own tree, baubles and star, or you can download and print the template below.
Make sure you have a grown up to help you with any tricky bits.

  • Glue or sticky tape
  • Pen or pencil
  • Scissors
  • Assorted paper or card (if drawing and making your own)
  • Any other decorations you might like to add

Download the template

Step 1

Download and print out the template or gather together your different papers.

If making your own, draw a nice big Christmas tree onto green paper or card.

Step 2

Write your family surname into the star e.g. Jones family.

Or if making your own, draw a star and then write your surname inside it.

Step 3

Write the names of your family members in the baubles.

If making your own baubles, draw around something circular and then write the names in.

So you can write your name in one, mum and dads’ names in another two baubles, and your grandparents in another two.

Step 4

Ask a grown up to help you cut around the tree, star and baubles.

Step 5

Stick your baubles and star to your tree.

Step 6

Now add any other decorations you like.

You could use some glitter or add more colour.

Your tree can look however you want it to. Here is an idea!

Step 7

Now you need to glue the back to your tree so it can stand up!

There’s a stand template available in the download or you can make your own.
