Recent and upcoming changes

From Friday 28 January, Wales completed the move to alert level 0:

  • Nightclubs can now re-open.
  • Businesses, employers and other organisations must continue to undertake a specific coronavirus risk assessment and take reasonable measures to minimise the spread of coronavirus.
  • The general requirement of 2m social distancing in all premises open to the public and workplaces has now been removed.
  • The rule of 6 will no longer apply to gatherings in regulated premises, such as hospitality, cinemas and theatres.
  • Licensed premises will no longer need to only provide table service and collect contact details.
  • Working from home remains part of advice from the Welsh Government but is no longer be a legal requirement.
  • The Covid Pass will continue to be required to enter larger indoor events, nightclubs, cinemas, theatres and concert halls.

The self-isolation rules for everyone who tests positive for Covid and the face-covering rules, which apply in most public indoor places will remain in force after 28 January.

This will help prevent the further spread of the Coronavirus, #ProtectOurNHS and save lives.

Face coverings

Face coverings will continue to be required in most indoor public places in Wales, including on public transport, in shops and in healthcare settings. Face coverings will be required in hospitality settings at all times apart from when seated. There will be exemptions for people who cannot wear them, as there are currently.

Swansea Libraries

Swansea libraries are open for browsing and PC and internet use. Please check individual library details to see what services are available. All Swansea Council libraries are Covid safe with extra cleaning and quarantining in operation.

Click and collect and digital services such as online resourcesebooks eaudiobooks and emagazines remain available. The Click and Collect service has proved incredibly popular with Swansea residents and fear not fans it’s not going away- the team at Swansea Council Libraries are on call to find your preferences or become your own personal book shoppers. If you still aren’t ready to come along to your local library in some cases we can arrange delivery of books in a Covid safe way straight to your doorstep.

Glynn Vivian Art Gallery

The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery is open with reduced times and days to ensure the Gallery is safe for your next visit. The Gallery is open Wednesday – Sunday 10.30am to 4pm, with last entry at 3.30pm.

Admission is still free, but visitors will need to book online in advance.

Please make sure to follow the latest guidance, and observe any signage in place at any indoor public place you visit.

Dylan Thomas Exhibition

Our temporary opening hours are 10am to 4pm on Wednesdays through to Sunday. You won’t need to book a slot to visit, but we will be monitoring numbers on site to ensure that there’s plenty of space for people to physically distance from each other. Please call us if you’re a large group and we can advise further.

Although the Learning Space is not yet open, their Children’s Trail is available – if you can, please bring your own pencil to complete it.

Swansea Museum

Swansea Museum is open Tuesdays  and Wednesdays, and Fridays to Sundays, 10am – 3pm. Admission is free.

West Glamorgan Archives Service is open, but please note that advance booking is essential.  Full information about how to access the service is available here.

Parklives

Parklives is back, run by the Sport and Health team at Swansea Council.

Here to offer free fun and fitness activities across the parks and green spaces in Swansea, it offers weekly adult sessions as well as a packed weeks of fun children’s activities during the half terms and school holidays.
