Step back in time and try your hand at some traditional crafts!

11am – 4.30pm

Think of castles and no doubt you’ll think of knights in shining armour or maybe a princess in tower, but have you ever thought what life in a castle was really like?

On Saturday 19 August we’ll be shedding light on aspects of castle life, showcasing traditional everyday objects people might have used and how they were made.

A carpenter will be demonstrating green woodworking, a form of carpentry using freshly felled wood which is softer and, therefore, much easier to shape using hand tools. There’ll also be opportunities for you to pick up a tool and have a go!

Fancy making a mediaeval style jug or storage jar? We’ll also have a potter showing you how to throw pots, and a felt worker making objects from wool.

Normal castle admission charges apply.
