Away from the rough and tumble of the rugby field Carmarthenshire born Carwyn James was a book lover whose influences included Chekhov, Gabriel Garcia Lorca and Welsh poets T H Parry Williams and Gwenallt.

Alun Gibbard, Carwyn’s official biographer, will talk about not only the coach who led Llanelliu, Wales and the British Lions to victory but of the complex character whose soul touches the spirit of Dylan Thomas.

Alun’s biography Into the Wind: The Life of Carwyn James topped the Welsh Bestsellers List in 2017 and this talk is on the eve of the Scarlets European Cup clash with Leinster.

6.30 for 7.00pm.
