The Copper Jack tour of the River Tawe and talk by Prof. Huw Bowen

Sunday 22nd May at 2pm

Meet at National Waterfront Museum

Take in the splendour and rich industrial history of Swansea on the beautiful ‘Copper Jack’ barge on a leisurely journey along the River Tawe from the Waterfront Museum to the Liberty Stadium. Prof. Huw Bowen who is Professor of Public History at Swansea University will give an insight as to just why Dylan’s ‘Ugly, lovely town’ also bore the name ‘Copperopolis.’

Prof. Bowen leads Cu@Swansea a regeneration project in partnership with City and County of Swansea which focuses on breathing new life into the Hafod Morfa Copperworks site in the lower Swansea Valley.

This is a totally different view of Swansea – almost Mediterranean and incredibly peaceful as we chug up river at 4 miles per hour.

The event is priced at £6.00 per person

The event is FREE to members of the Dylan Thomas Society

(Society members should check their May newsletter for details on a discount code.)

Hurry, the boat has a capacity of only 46 spaces!
