Yes! Swansea Bay will very much be alive with the sound of music this St David’s Day as the annual Croeso Festival comes home again to Wales.

Croeso Festival is a two-day festival celebrating St David’s Day and all things Welsh, held in Swansea’s city centre on Saturday 29 February and Sunday 1 March with a wealth of local talent to keep you entertained.

You’ll want to head straight to Castle Square if live music is what you like. You’ll find a great line-up of local musicians taking to the stage.

Côr Tŷ Tawe

You can’t celebrate St David’s Day without at least one choir. Côr Tŷ Tawe will be taking to the Croeso Stage at 12.30pm on Saturday. A mixed choir, established in 1990 in Swansea as a Welsh medium choir, Côr Tŷ Tawe has held many concerts and has competed successfully in competitions and Eisteddfods. It has also won the first prize four times in the Pan-Celtic competition, held annually in Ireland.

Côr Tŷ Tawe sings a variety of Welsh traditional and modern songs. The choir welcomes Welsh speakers and learners of Welsh, and offers the latter an ideal opportunity to immerse themselves in Welsh culture and to enjoy socialising in the Welsh language. Rehearsals are in Tŷ Tawe every Wednesday evening between 7pm and 9pm. Fancy joining in? New singers are always welcome!

Ragsy

Ragsy is a singer/songwriter based in Wales who is on a journey to learn the Welsh language in the hope of one day being fluent.

He appeared on The Voice UK in 2013 when fellow Welshman, Sir Tom Jones, mentored him.

Ragsy has since played at many festivals, including Glastonbury, and supported established musicians such as The Proclaimers, James Dean Bradfield, and Hue & Cry. His debut album, Ouch!, is available now.

He’ll be taking to the Croeso Stage at 1pm on Saturday.

Interestingly, Ragsy is also a trained chef and will be cooking at the Croeso Kitchen in Swansea Market at 3pm on Saturday.

Jack Perrett

Influenced by Oasis and the Britpop bands, Jack Perrett is a Welsh indie-rock musician who will take to the Croeso Stage at 2pm on Saturday.

“Over the years I have given first sessions to The Smiths, Primal Scream, Amy Winehouse and many more. I get a buzz and a tingle when I hear something special. That’s what happened when I heard Jack Perrett. Jack is a great singer songwriter who I instantly booked for my show on BBC Radio Wales” (Janice Long, BBC Radio Wales).

Welsh Whisperer

The ultimate Welsh country folk pop experience will be live on the Croeso Stage at 2.30pm on Saturday. If his set is anything like this video we’re in for a fun and entertaining afternoon.

Eady Crawford

Hailing from Merthyr, Eädyth is a bilingual artist whose musical style blends electronic synths with R&B and soul. You can hear Eädyth in Castle Square on Saturday 29 February at 3pm.

Tomos Newman

Taking to the stage at Croeso Festival on Sunday 1 March at 12pm, Tomos Newman is an emerging singer-songwriter from Pembrokeshire. He has performed at many events and festivals, and is currently working on material and co-writing with Owen Powell (Duffy, Catatonia).

Kizzy Crawford

Kizzy Crawford’s is a 23 years old Welsh speaker with Bajan heritage. Her solo career began just a few years ago and in that time, Kizzy has developed an increasing sophistication to her song writing and performance, complimented by her soulful voice that boasts both range and charisma.
