Mega Music Weekend

Three huge names come to Singleton Park this July when Nile Rodgers and CHIC slap bass their way through hit after hit on Friday 29th. You’ll “ooh love” Anne-Marie when she parties on stage Saturday 30th, and Paul Weller will be bringing style to Swansea council with over 40 years of classic tunes on Sunday 31st. There’s nothing like dancing in the open air and singing your heart out, book your tickets now!

Para Sport Festival takes place 1-7 August, it’s an amazing schedule of inclusive and para sport events coordinated by Disability Sport Wales and it’s OPEN to ALL disabled children, young people, and adults. Try something new, register to take part here. There is also an opportunity for spectators to watch the Deaf Rugby Sevens: Wales v England, Wheelchair Rugby Welsh Open and several Target Shooting events!

The Volvo 2022 World Triathlon Para Series Swansea takes place on Saturday 6th August. Catch the world’s top para athletes swim, bike, run their way around the city centre. As well as world class racing, there will also be live entertainment, celebrities, food, drink and an event village. Find out more.

Outdoor Theatre

Pack a picnic and settle into the idyllic settings of the grounds of Oystermouth Castle for live outdoor theatre sponsored by Home from Home this August.
Rapunzel (Fri 5th Aug) is a breath of fresh air for all ages, promising lots of slapstick physical humour, puppetry, and plenty to keep the adults entertained too.

The course of true love never did run smooth…enjoy an outdoor performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Thu 25th Aug), Shakespeare’s classic comedy of love and intrigue, magic and mayhem.

Dig out your prettiest frock and your wooden swords for Prince and Princesses day at Oystermouth Castle on Monday 29th August . There are also weekly tours of the castle where you can find out all about the history, did you know it was first built in the 1100s?

Take on the reading challenge at your local library

Swansea libraries have announced this year’s summer reading challenge, the theme is Gadgeteers, created in partnership with Science Museum Group and illustrated by top children’s writer and illustrator Julian Beresford. Read a set number of books over the holidays and receive a certificate and medal!

Celebrate Dylan’s childhood summers

This summer, the Dylan Thomas Centre will be celebrating Dylan’s writing about his childhood holidays with creative workshops, children’s trails, and a whole host of fun activities for all the family to enjoy. Have a go at cut-up poetry, create a comic full of amazing characters and stories, and write a postcard sharing your own holiday memories!

Gower Agricultural Show

The annual Gower Agricultural Show will be held on Sunday 31st July in the parklands of Penrice Castle Park. The show is a traditional, fun-filled family day out with a full programme of displays and competitions throughout the day. Visit the competition tents to see the amazing displays of flowers, vegetables, cookery and arts and crafts, and don’t miss the attractions in the main ring including a display of our favourite shire horses and, of course, the very popular novelty dog show!
