A mother is looking for her daughter who was taken into care. When the daughter was put onto the system her name was changed without her mother’s knowledge. Her mother began a search through every single local authority in the UK to try and find her daughter. What begins as an appeal for help unfolds as a horror story as things take a supernatural turn…
Drawing on her own experience as a Care Leaver in England, Rebecca Batala creates a piece that explores the Care Experience from a young Black perspective and engages with the experience of those on this side of the border. The performance examines the enormous pressure on children’s services and how failings in Westminster (or Cardiff) negatively impact those on the sharp end of policy and practice.
