How can I protect my pets during the fireworks display?
Keep animals inside when the fireworks are taking place (from 7:00 – 7:30 for this event). Make sure you walk your dog earlier in the day before the fireworks start. Close windows and doors, and block cat flaps to stop pets escaping and to keep noise to a minimum.
Draw curtains, and if the animals are used to the sounds of TV or radio, switch them on (but not too loudly) in order to block out some of the noise of the fireworks. It may be worth giving your pet additional bedding to burrow into so it feels safe.
If you know your animals react badly to loud noises perhaps consider moving them for the night.

The annual fireworks display in St Helen’s has been running for over 35 years and the only change to that was when the council laid on free events in 2019 and 2021 as a one-off celebration of the city’s 50th anniversary and then to encourage people to return to large scale events with more confidence, post-pandemic.
The annual fireworks display in St Helen’s has been running for over 35 years and the only change to that was when the council laid on free events in 2019 and 2021 as a one-off celebration of the city’s 50th anniversary and then to encourage people to return to large scale events with more confidence, post-pandemic. However, despite soaring inflation and increased supplier costs, the event will be returning this year but, recognising that everyone is feeling the pinch, ticket prices are significantly cheaper than they were in 2018 when a family of five paid £21 and a single adult paid £6.
