The leaves have started falling, the mornings are feeling crisp and the nights are getting darker. That means that we’re fast approaching a new season with lots of great events around our city.

Swansea Council’s Enjoy Swansea Bay team have a fantastic line up of events to keep you and your little ones happy with family fun (spooky and not so spooky!) – check out our full list of events and activities below…

Spooks in the City

Join in the FREE spooky spectacular entertainment, games, workshops and walk-about characters from 11am – 4pm ~ it will get you into the Halloween mood.

Come dressed in your creepy costumes; take part in the spooks in the city trail where you could win some goodies thanks to Brace’s Bakery and make sure to join in the pumpkin parade at 3pm – you’re sure to have a frightfully fun time.

This FREE event has fang-tastic offers of music, glitter tattoos, theatrical make-up, pumpkins, gory props for the best photo opportunities and craft workshops.

Brangwyn Hall – The Opus Pocus 1001 Arabian Nights

A hairy tale of a Princess, a Sultan and a Genie, a shipwreck and an unfortunate pirate who keeps getting transformed into a baboon! Join Grandma Dingley and BBC NOW at 3pm.

With Rimsky-Korsakov’s opulent, luscious and tempestuous Scheherazade providing the musical stage, the lovable, but slightly batty Grandma (you’ve been warned!!) will be on hand to guide you through the story, introduce you to the orchestra and even lead you in some interactive musical activities, perfect for the whole family.

Halloween Ghost Train

The spooky way to see the Bay..
Dare you ride the Ghost train? Experience a chilling ride this Halloween, as the Swansea Bay Rider takes a spooky journey along the promenade.
The popular Land Train gets a creepy make-over on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st October, so come along and dress up in your best Halloween outfit and add to the unique atmosphere.

Train departs from Blackpill Lido, the journey is approx. 45mins finishing back at Blackpill Lido

Train time bookings: 16.30, 17.15, 18.00, 18.45

Tickets £5.50

The Haunted Castle Experience at Oystermouth

Enter if you dare! With hundreds of years of gruesome history, castles are not for the faint hearted – especially at night, and like every self-respecting castle, Oystermouth is thought to have its own resident ghost.

Treading carefully, navigate your way through the 12th century vaults and ancient corridors of Oystermouth Castle – what lies beneath you or awaits you around every corner? Strange things happen in old castles…With the lights out, who knows what unsettling spirits or creepy characters you might meet – are you brave enough to find out? Whatever you do, don’t disturb the White Lady!4 times slots available between 5.30 and 10.15pm.  It’s scary, so be wary…

For ages 12+, under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

National Waterfront Museum

Join us at the National Waterfront Museum this Halloween at 6:30pm for an evening of quirky quiz questions about the weird and wonderful in natural science.

Hosted by biologist, broadcaster and explorer, Lizzie Daly, and curated by our museum natural history team.

Gather your team (teams of 6 max) and get competitive suitable for ages 7+.

Swansea Science Festival is back!

Join us for a wide range of shows and workshops along with over 30 free exhibits.

Dylan Thomas Centre

There’s plenty to enjoy at the Dylan Thomas Centre this half term, as we celebrate Dylan’s birthday and all his poems about autumn. Our Young Writers Squads will have special workshops with Costa Poetry Prize winner Jonathan Edwards, and we’ll be taking our creative writing workshops on tour to Brynhyfryd and Pontarddulais libraries.
We’ll also have a free, fun drop-in workshop at the Dylan Thomas Centre, and self-led activities will be available throughout the week.
