Enjoy the festivities in Swansea this November!

With October half term coming to an end, the clocks changing and the nights drawing in, it’s time to start planning for the festive season!

There’s a packed November in store for Swansea, including the return of our annual Fireworks Display and our Christmas Parade, as well as other festive favourites around the city.

Take a look at what’s coming up this month!

Swansea Council Fireworks Display – Sunday 5 November, St Helen’s

Join us on November 5 as we make a welcome return to St Helen’s Ground for a spectacular ’Night at the Movies’ themed fireworks display!

Gates open at 5pm with a warm movie themed welcome from Penclawdd Brass Band. Pre-show entertainment will begin at 5.30pm and will feature glow entertainers, movie-themed attractions and performances and walkabout acts.

At 7:00pm, we’ll light up the sky with a stunning fireworks display in time to music from the movies.

Food, drink and movie theatre style snacks will be available to purchase in the ground from a selection of on-site food-vendors.

Swansea Sports Awards 2023 in association with Freedom Leisure

Do you know a coach, a team or a athlete who deserves recognition for their hard work and determination? Swansea has a proud tradition of producing great sports people. Whether it’s the volunteer or the coach who puts in hour after hour behind the scenes, the team which has been the most successful through the year or the sportsperson that has achieved the most in their sport, Swansea is a city full of sporting champions.

The Swansea Sports Awards ceremony will take place from 7pm on Thursday 28 March 2024, at the Brangwyn Hall in association with Freedom Leisure.

Nominations open 6th November 2023.

Tickets will be on sale from January 2024.

Swansea Remembers – Saturday 11 November from 10:30am, St David’s Place

Join us in St David’s Place (near the former Iceland Store) from 10.30am – 12pm on Saturday 11 November for our annual Remembrance event, where Swansea commemorates Armistice Day and reflects on the sacrifices made by our Servicemen and Servicewomen.

Compered by Kevin Johns MBE, the service will commence at around 10.50am with ‘the silence’ being observed at 11am.

Waterfront Winterland – 15 November 2023 – 2 January 2024, Museum Park

The festive fun returns with Waterfront Winterland, and it’s not a Swansea Christmas without a little dancing on ice! The popular ice rink will be back and under cover – so you can take to the ice in all weathers! You can also enjoy all the fun of the fair at Waterfront Winterland too with a range of exciting rides to suit the whole family.

And if all this makes you feel a little peckish, make sure you visit the Alpine Village for festive favourites including German sausages, warming mulled wine or even toasted marshmallows. Grab a seat and enjoy the Alpine Village atmosphere with your friends and family.

Swansea Christmas Parade – Sunday 19 November from 5pm, City Centre

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and we have some exciting news to share with you! On November 19, the annual Christmas parade takes place in Swansea City Centre from 5pm.

One of the highlights of the city’s annual events calendar, you won’t want to miss this free festive event, featuring colourful floats, community groups, professional performers, superheroes and princesses, Santa Claus and much more.

Come and join us for a fun-filled evening of holiday cheer. Bring your family and friends and enjoy this magical celebration. We can’t wait to see you there!

Tales from the Vaults 2 – 17-18 November, Discovery Room, Central Library 

Don’t miss your chance to explore rarely seen items and hidden treasures from the Swansea Library Service’s special collections.

Discover the story of Swansea – its people and places, through time, starting in the medieval period and the Swansea Charter; moving on to the Illston Pilgrims that went to America; the 18th Century, when Swansea could be thought of as the ‘Brighton of Wales’, before looking at Victorian Swansea, WW1, Dylan Thomas, Badfinger, and the City’s role in the Doctor Who series. And that’s just for starters!

Swansea Libraries’ special collections are not just made up of books, but include historic maps, artefacts, and sculptures, that will help tell Swansea’s story.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to explore the Library Service’s collections. Children are welcome and catered for with a virtual reality trail, plus themed activities in the children’s library.

Swansea Christmas Market – Friday 24 November – Wednesday 20 December

Talented crafters, traditional traders and delicious street food vendors return to Swansea’s Christmas Market from 24 November to 20 December. Festive chalets along Oxford Street and Portland Street will be offering unique gifts, tempting treats and beautiful decorations.

Festivities kick off on Saturday 25 November when the Caroller’s Cabin on Portland Street and Swansea Market host the fabulous Mistletoe and Markets event. The Caroller’s Cabin is also the hub for a festive entertainment programme, including school choirs, for the duration of the Christmas Market. When not in use for performances, step into the sparkly Santa scene and take the perfect festive family photo.

Cinderella, Grand Theatre – Saturday 9 December – Sunday 7 January

If you are looking for a fun and festive way to celebrate the Christmas season, look no further than Swansea Grand Theatre.

This year’s pantomime is a spectacular production of Cinderella, running from Saturday 9 December to Sunday 7 January, featuring a dazzling digital set, buckets of audience participation and heaps of hilarity.

Start the month off with our FREE Lunchtime Organ recital (7 November).

Stock up on gifts at GypsyWishes Magickal Market (November 4) with bespoke businesses from across Wales.

Status Quo frontman, Francis Rossi, will be joining us on 14 November for original-style, acoustic versions of Quo classics, threaded together with chat.
