You may recognise it as the old BHS building, the newly developed Y Storfa is a vibrant community hub located on Oxford Street and is now home to Swansea Central Library. Open 7 days a week with self-service on Mondays, it offers fantastic new facilities right in the heart of the city.

Discover the fascinating world of Swansea's history with Local Studies Talks, with new events taking place every month. Make sure to mark your calendar for these insightful sessions:  

Saturday 4 April, 2pm - Mark Rees, Steve Balsamo and special guests: Paranormal Unpacked - The Rhondda Street Poltergeist 1965 (screening and panel discussion)

Family History Sessions

Want to discover your family history? One-to-one, hour sessions are available to book with librarians and researchers in Y Storfa.  

Tailored to individual family research, find out how to start your family history using family history websites, archives and the library’s newspaper, map and printed collections. 

Sessions take place at 1pm, 2pm, and 3 pm on 22 April, 6 May and 20 May.

No appointment needed, just head to the first floor of Central Library between 1 – 4pm Tuesdays or 10am – 1pm Thursdays.

Y Storfa also houses a range of other council-run services such as the Contact Centre, Housing Options,Revenues and Benefits, Lifelong Learning and the West Glamorgan Archive Service as well as Careers Wales,The South Wales Miners Library and Citizens Advice.
