Coastal Walks and Sandy Paws

With autumn here, all of Swansea Bay’s beautiful beaches are open to dogs again (1 Oct – 30 Apr). Let your furry friend run free on golden sands, splash in the surf, and chase driftwood to their heart’s delight.

Start with a stroll along Swansea Bay’s sweeping promenade - a flat 5-mile route from Swansea Marina to Mumbles, with stunning views and plenty of dog-friendly cafés along the way.

In Mumbles, soak up the charm of this Victorian seaside village, full of boutiques, galleries, and fantastic places to eat. Many welcome dogs, and the relaxed coastal vibe makes it a favourite spot for fellow dog lovers.

For more coastal beauty, follow the Gower Coast Path from Bracelet Bay to Caswell Bay. This three-mile stretch offers dramatic views and is perfect for a sunset walk with your canine companion.

Craving something wilder? Head to Rhossili Bay – one of the UK’s top-rated dog-friendly beaches - where three miles of golden sand and towering cliffs create the ultimate doggy playground. Or, explore the quiet trails of Cwm Ivy and the remote, windswept sands of Whitford Burrows.

Tips for Visiting with Your Dog

Check beach restrictions: All our beaches are dog-friendly in autumn and winter, but some have seasonal rules (1 May to 30 September). Look for signage or check online before you go

Pack the essentials: Water, waste bags, a towel for muddy paws, and a lead

Respect local wildlife: Gower is home to grazing animals and protected habitats, so please keep your dog on a lead, under control and follow the dog walking code

Plan ahead: While many places are dog-friendly, it’s always worth calling ahead to confirm, especially for accommodation and indoor venues
