The festivities don’t stop at St David’s Day! As the days get longer there is plenty to enjoy this March and beyond in Swansea.  

Spring at the National Waterfront Museum

Spring has dropped anchor at the National Waterfront Museum, and they’re charting a course for a season packed with discovery, creativity and celebration. 

Join them as they hoist the flag for their: 

  • Browse unique treasures at their Vintage & Makers Market on 7-8 March  

  • Little deckhands (and grown-ups too) can dive into the Make and Take craft sessions, perfect for sparking creativity 

  • Keep an eye out for their Easter events and activities which promise an egg-cellent adventure at the museum. 

On the 22 April, the National Waterfront Museum will also host a special Welsh premier of ‘Jo in the Water’, a fantastic film that makes a real splash with its powerful storytelling on the 22 April. Tickets are selling fast, so book yours today!

As you explore the museum, you’ll notice that change is afoot. New objects and fresh stories are beginning to surface as they continue their voyage towards becoming a true museum of the sea, sharing deeper connections to Wales’s rich maritime heritage.

Oystermouth Castle Returns!

Oystermouth Castle will welcome visitors once again as it reopens on 28 March 2026, offering daily access to its historic grounds and stunning views over Swansea Bay.  

With events, guided tours, and family friendly activities, the castle’s reopening marks an exciting cultural highlight for spring.

Reading For Wellbeing This World Book Day

World Book Day isn’t just for children.  

Reading Well for Families recommends a collection to support parents and carers to look after their wellbeing in pregnancy and the early years from conception to aged two. This informative series of books provide information on wellbeing, mental health and coping with loss.  

Where do I find the books? 

  • Speak to your local library staff about borrowing the books for free 

  • Reading Well books have an extended loan period of 6 weeks. Books can be renewed if you’d like more time to read 

Reading for well-being is scientifically proven. Other reading well schemes supporting children, teens, dementia and mental health are also available from the Swansea Library service and can help reduce stress and improve our wellbeing. 

It’s easy and free to join your local library if you are not already a member. A member of library staff can help you join!

Swansea Food and Drink Festival

Swansea Food & Drink Festival returns from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th March 2026, with a variety of incredible food and drinks on offer from independent traders.  

What to expect: 

  • Street food from around the world 

  • Sweet treats and artisan bakes 

  • Craft drinks and local producers 

  • Unique handmade and independent stalls 

  • A lively, welcoming atmosphere in the heart of the city
