⭐ Go stargazing on Gower ⭐
Gower’s Dark Skies are considered some of the clearest and most awe‑inspiring in the UK, offering perfect conditions for stargazers. Its secluded beaches and wide-open commons are free from light pollution, meaning that on a clear night you can marvel at the heavens whilst listening to waves crash in the far distance.
This year’s Welsh Dark Skies Week takes place between 13th and 22nd February, celebrating the very best spots in Wales to admire the night sky.
In 2025, Gower National Landscape was officially recognised as an International Dark Sky Community - the first area in South Wales to receive this prestigious status from Dark Sky International. This recognition continues to shine a spotlight on Gower’s commitment to protecting nocturnal wildlife and reducing light pollution.
Where to see the stars
Gower’s top stargazing spots include Port Eynon, Three Cliffs Bay, and Oxwich Bay, where wide-open beaches provide clear views of the night sky.
For elevated vantage points, Cefn Bryn and Rhossili offer higher positions ideal for taking in the area’s Dark Skies along the coastline.
