Love is in the air in Swansea Bay ❤
Did you know Wales has its very own celebration of love? On 25th January, we celebrate St Dwynwen’s Day, named after Santes Dwynwen - a fourth-century princess and the Welsh patron saint of lovers. And with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, love is truly in the air across Swansea Bay, Mumbles and Gower. We have plenty of inspiring ideas to help you show your cariad (that’s Welsh for “love”) just how much they mean to you - from romantic breaks and scenic walks to unique local gifts.
Romantic Breaks
Choose a stylish boutique hotel in the heart of the city or wake up to sweeping sea views in a cosy coastal cottage. Prefer the countryside? Hide away in a peaceful rural retreat full of charm. Many options are dog-friendly too, so your furry friend can join the adventure.
Date Night
Date night in Swansea Bay couldn’t be easier. Start with a romantic candlelit dinner for two, then catch a show at the theatre. Want something more casual? Sip drinks with a gorgeous view, take a sunset stroll along the bay, and finish the evening at a local gig.
Day Date Ideas
Love a romantic day out? Check out our romantic trails video for inspiration. Stroll hand in hand along Gower’s breath-taking beaches and winding coastal paths. Pause for a coffee and homemade cake at a cosy café along the way. Warm up in a relaxing sauna on the shore and follow it with a refreshing sea dip!
Give a gift they’ll love
Looking for the perfect way to say “I love you?” Swansea Bay has plenty of thoughtful ideas. Treat them to fresh oysters by the sea or sample locally crafted beers, gin and whisky. For something timeless, choose a handcrafted Welsh lovespoon (you’ll even find an entire gallery dedicated to these in Mumbles!), or browse local markets, independent shops and galleries for unique artwork, ceramics, and jewellery.
