What we offer

NERS

The scheme is aimed at encouraging individuals who are currently inactive in participating in sport as part of a preventative or rehabilitation programme. The scheme works in partnership with health professionals in Swansea including local GPs, practice nurses, dieticians, physiotherapists, diabetic nurses, psychologists and occupational therapists.

60+

Are you over 60 and want to get active? this is for you! We are here to help motivate you and support you in your active journey. We are looking to expand our 60+ programme – if you have any suggestions please contact us on 01792 635452 or sportandhealth@swansea.gov.uk

Daily light exercise comes in many forms such as walking at a slow pace, getting up to make a cup of tea and using a vacuum to clean. Exercises twice a week can help improve strength, balance and flexibility such as gardening, exercises using your own body weight or carrying the shopping. (link to nhs older adults page?)

ParkLives

ParkLives offers fun activities in parks, encouraging people to make new friends and enjoy the green spaces in their local community.

From balance bikes and pop up sessions to health walks in the community, as well as tai chi, Nordic walking and low impact fitness, there’s a variety of ParkLives sessions to suit everyone. The timetabled activities are usually one hour long and led by supportive, friendly, trained session leaders, and volunteers from the local communities.

Us girls

Our very popular Us Girls camps run during the school holidays in partnership with freedom leisure. They are for girls aged between 8 and 14 years who can come together in a fun, friendly and non-judgemental environment to try out a range of different sports and activities including dance, dodgeball, swimming and more!

Along with trying out new sports and activities the girls will have the opportunity to meet new friends and discuss topics relevant to them, such as, ‘barriers to sport’ and ‘the importance of being active’. The Sport and Health team are dedicated to ensuring that all girls who attend the Us Girls camp are made to feel welcome, have fun and most importantly are given the confidence and belief in themselves to try new things and to step out of their comfort zones.
