Spring is in the air

As the days are getting longer and the daffodils are in bloom, Swansea’s latest event guide is here to help you make the most of March….and with the free-ride Swansea offer back from Sat 23 March, you can travel anywhere in Swansea county by bus, for free!

Our venues have a jampacked itinerary of fun things to do with the kids this Easter. Why not join in the awesome ancient Egypt activities at Swansea Museum, attend clown school at one of our libraries or try some creative writing at the Dylan Thomas Centre?

Our sport and health team also have lots planned, including free balance bike sessions, street games, and a basketball camp. There is plenty of free Easter fun to be had.

Outdoor Attractions

If you want to travel along Swansea Prom in style, look no further that the Swansea Bay Rider Land Train. The Swansea Bay rider will reopen on the 23 of March 2024 and will run every weekend, plus 7 days a week during the school holidays.

Singleton Park pedalos, crazy golf and Southend gardens crazy golf will reopen on the 23 of March 2024 to 22 September 2024, every weekend and 7 days a week during the school holidays.

Oystermouth Castle

Oystermouth castle reopens on the 25 March, just in time for Easter!

Open every day except Tuesdays, 11am – 5pm. Join the friends of Oystermouth castle over the Easter weekend with two exciting events!

Saturday 30 March – Medieval living history day
Join local re-enactors Gwerin y Gwyr and experience what life at Oystermouth in the 13th century was like. Normal admission charges apply.

Sunday 31 March – Easter Bunny Trail
Find the bunny’s hidden inside the Castle and bag yourself an Easter treat. From 11am -1pm, or until the prizes run out. Tickets are £4 per child with one accompanying adult to go free! The Castle is open as normal until 5pm.

Jump into the Easter holidays with sport and Health and find out what’s on.

Dylan Thomas Centre

Go and try the brand new trail at the Dylan Thomas Centre – ‘Dylan’s Favourite Sweets’! Dylan used to love eating sweets in the bath and wrote about some of his favourites in his stories and broadcasts.

There are hidden mini jars representing the sweets throughout the ‘Love the Words’ Exhibition – see if you can you find them all, there’s a prize if you discover each jar! There will also be ‘Here in this spring’ family activities at the centre and online – fun for families of all ages.

Swansea Museum

From March 22 to April 7, Swansea Museum will have some Awesome Ancient Egypt activities: two workshops, one new trail, and a free pack stuffed with games and crafts!

Thursday 28th of March

10am to 1pm – Use your creative skills to design your very own treasure hunt. Drop in, all ages, free.

Thursday 4th of April

10am to 1pm – Practice pottery making by sculpting a clay Egyptian ushabti figurine to take home. Drop in, all ages, free.
There is also the opportunity to try out the museum’s new Egyptian themed trail and don’t forget to take a free activity pack home to enjoy even more games and activities.

Swansea Libraries at Easter

Swansea’s 17 libraries will have a whole host of fantastic events to keep all ages entertained over the Easter holidays.

Among the fun on offer is the chance to join in with Familia de la Noche at Clown school on Wednesday, March 27. Clown School is a series of fun games and interactive activities to encourage creative thinking and silliness. The sessions will be provided bilingually in Welsh and English and are for age 5 plus. The sessions will be held at Central Library at 10am, Morriston Library at 12.30pm and St Thomas Library at 3pm. Booking is essential.

Other activities include a Wonka Fun Day at Gorseinon Library on Tuesday, March 26 from 10am to 2pm.

Enjoy your local park

This Easter make the most of the dry, sunny days and enjoy the great outdoor spaces.  We are very lucky to be blessed with over 50 beautiful parks and gardens, many of which are on our doorstep –  and there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy them.

Whether you want to take a leisurely stroll, get your steps in while walking the dog, make your own obstacle course, practice or learn a new skill, or just visit to admire the beauty of the colourful flower beds, there’s a park near you!
