Looking for a concert to enjoy in Swansea?

Celebrate with BBC National Orchestra of Wales as they close their current season on Friday 2nd June with a cracking concert that all music lovers will enjoy! Conducted by the award winning Ryan Bancroft, with soloists Alice Neary (Cello) and Rebecca Jones (Viola), hear vibrant music by Mozart, Strauss and Welsh composer Grace Williams.

Brangwyn Hall events

June at the Brangwyn includes something for all music fans from classical music to rock.

The month begins with BBC NOW’s Season Closing Concert, WHIMSICAL | SPRIGHTLY | FANCIFUL on 2nd June and continues with the Brangwyn’s monthly Lunchtime Organ Recital (6th June) and Tea Dance (7th June).

Then, get ready to don your headphones and dance the night away on 10th June with 90’s Silent Disco including the songs of Britney Spears, Oasis and Eminem.

Two choirs join us this month. The Annual Gala Concert from Morriston Orpheus Choir and Friends takes place on 17th June, hosted by the incomparable Wynne Evans. On 24th June, you will be guaranteed to get Saturday Night Fever when Valley Rock Voices bring their contemporary sound to the Hall performing everything from the Bee Gees to Stormzy!

“If you go down in the woods…” Surely it should be castle? For Saturday 3rd June is the day that Teddy Bears Picnic at Oystermouth Castle.

Bring a picnic and your own special teddy bear to enjoy a fun day at the castle. Haven’t got a bear? Don’t worry, we will have a few teddies for you to adopt for the day.

Get more from your visit by joining the Friends of Oystermouth Castle for one of their guided tours to gain a glimpse into medieval life and reveal stories of long ago. Every Wednesday and Friday, also Sunday in school holidays, 11.15am and 2.15pm.

Gŵyl Tawe 2023

Menter Iaith Abertawe’s festival, Gŵyl Tawe, will return this year on Saturday the 10th of June to a new location at the National Waterfront Museum. The festival will feature performances from the best of the Welsh language music scene including Adwaith, Sage Todz and many more, as well as a variety of activities for all the family.

Swansea International Jazz Festival 2023

Swansea International Jazz Festival is back 15th – 19th June with a line-up packed with legendary performers and familiar favourites.

You really don’t want to miss the 2023 Festival concert series which includes:

•    HOOP
•    Laurence Cottle All-Star Big Band
•    Daniel John Martin’s Gypsy Jazz Quartet
•    The Coalminers
•    Iain MacKenzie
•    HHH – Mo PleasurePlus, a Jazz Workshop for young instrumentalists, courtesy of Swansea Music and National Music Service of Wales, and a packed stroller programme of great live music at venues in and around the Maritime Quarter.

Under Milk Wood, Dylan Thomas’ play for voices, had its premiere on stage at the Poetry Center in New York on 14th May 1953. To celebrate this 70th anniversary, the Dylan Thomas Centre is staging a temporary exhibition featuring objects from the collection which illustrate some of the ways the play, set in the fictional Welsh town of Llareggub, has been interpreted over the years.

Twentieth Century Swansea

Inspired by rarely seen photographic archives from people who recorded the change from troubled town to hopeful city, Twentieth Century Swansea presents Swansea Museum’s collection of artefacts and ephemera displayed alongside photographs that provide a fascinating little glimpse into the city’s century of change.

Have you had a chance to visit our fantastic Outdoor Attractions yet?

They’re the perfect way to spend a sunny day.

You could hop on a Pedalo at Singleton Park’s boating lake – swan, or dragon or car – the choice is yours! Have a game of crazy golf at the park or try a rematch at Southend Gardens.

Or why not pay a visit to Blackpill Lido – our fantastic free outdoor water park with paddling pool and water features and children’s play area.

There’s also the Swansea Bay Rider land train which makes for a truly memorable way to take in the sights as you travel along the Prom.

There’s only one month to go until Wales Airshow, Wales’ largest free event.  On July 1st and 2nd you will be able to witness flying aerobatics by the Red Arrows (supported by DS Automobiles at FRF Motors Swansea), the Typhoon Display Team, Team Raven, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and the recently announced Tigers Parachute Display Team and a Wildcat Helicopter.

Alongside the aerial excitement there will be a variety of ground displays for you and all the family to enjoy such as military displays, a funfair, replica planes and live music throughout the weekend.

Summer of sport

Swansea is set to host another week of world class sport in summer 2023, with the World Triathlon Para Series returning on 15th July and IRONMAN 70.3 Swansea on 16th July. We’ll also see the return of the week-long Para Sport Festival from 10th – 16th July. We want everyone to enjoy these events and therefore in order to safely facilitate these events, a number of temporary road closures, traffic diversions and parking restrictions will be in place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July.
